911 2.7 (with CIS) - Complete Rebuild

I have just purchased; "How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines." I have a European 911 2.7 1975 with CIS injection. I am not a mechanic and the car I have purchased is a non-runner. am after an idiot guide or menu on exactly what modifications I can make during the engine rebuild to achieve a rise in HP over the standard 150 bhp, whilst retaining the CIS injection system. I am a novice mechanic but really want to have a go at the rebuild myself - Is there a resource anyone can point me to generic to the rebuild and modification of this particular engine. Many thanks Sean Steventon, UK.

Suggestion: use a week to search through the forum. You will then have a good background for your options

Buy a 3.0. it will be less expensive to build and worth more when youre finished.

Hey Flat6pac,
Are you saying a '77 with a 3.0 will be worth more than the car with its original engine freshly rebuilt?
I think that once the 2.7 issues are dealt with it is a pretty good engine and personally would rather have the original engine in the car.

Sorry Sean, I don't have a specific resource for you, see if you can search this forum for other threads that have fully documented their rebuilds which will help, as people often write about tips and tricks that you don't get in the books.

Good for you for wanting to tackle this yourself, I look forward to reading about your success.

pickle the 2.7

buy a 3.0 or 3.2

rebuilding an unmolested 2.7 correctly is very expensive
