Valve Keeper Angle
Some while ago I read a post which stated that the valve keeper angle on the 911 was 7 degrees.
I assume that this is the included angle? ![]() |

Mike thanks,
I have been trying to measure the taper using ball bearings , a height gauge and some trig. I think that the lower diameter is 10.85 mm and the upper diameter is 11.9 mm but I am not 100% confident. If these numbers are correct then the included angle is 7 degrees. My concern is that 7 degrees is the half angle and I am just nervous about getting it wrong. |

Chris, the industry standard is 7deg. there are some at 5deg but not very common, we make tool steel and Ti retainers in house for our springs and pans.

how is the angle measured ?
This might help answer your question Chris
TRW catalogue specifies the the MK-9H for Porsche applications, using (naturally) TRW valves. MK-9H = 3 grooves, non clamping, hardened.... The drawing nominates the taper "Konus" as 1:4 (roughly 14° included angle, or 7° half angle) ![]() John |

Thanks, very helpful - I have sent a retainer to a colleague with a CMM so I can be 100% confident ![]() |
