How far can I tilt an MFI pump.
Dear all, here my 911 project. I am struggleing with these problems.
Problem: Barometer can is touching K&N Filter. ![]() Potential solution: I have added 5 aluminum Washers to tilt the pump. I uses aluminum washers because they are getting formed by compression. ![]() Side effect the belts gets tight. Question how tight can be the mfi belt? I can twist the belt by 90 degrees and slightly more. ![]() Any other ideas to improve my package issues. BR\ Bob |

A more elegant solution would be to make a new base plate for the air filter with an offset to the left to avoid the pump. Not real easy, but it could be done by machining a piece of aluminum or making a new bottom for one of the plates and epoxying it into the plate.

I have nothing to add to the solution, but from what I see in the photos this looks to be a nice build! Please share photos when finished.

I would not make the belt to tight. Potential downside is more fater wear of the belt, or gear or worse...on the shaft/ housing of the pump. Some of these housings are soft magnsium and probably can not take the lateral stress. How about off-setting the air cleaner to the outside??

Two solutions:
1)Contour the filter to avoid contact. Cut the filter and and base then seal the filter with a high quality silicon sealant. 2)Remove the altitude compensator and replace it with a plug with a 6 mm hole drilled and tapped for an adjustment bolt. ![]() ![]()

The belt should not be real tight, loose is better. If you can twist the belt 90 degrees like you posted, it well be fine. Running the belt to tight will wear out the pulley much faster not to mention the extra load on the bearing.
