Intermediate Shaft cleanup?
I'm getting the crank and intermediate shaft ready for assembly. Should I be smoothing any of the shiny/discolored areas on the shaft at all, or should I just assemble and move on? (No discernible wear here.)

Move on. The shiny is commonplace on the shaft. You can check it if you like (there is a shaft & bore spec for both the shaft and the case) but I suspect you'll find it to be good. Don't forget to remove the small plug in the end of the shaft and flush it out. You'll be surprised how much crud comes out of there.......

Thanks! Not much crud at all on there. Must have had a bath in the machinist's parts washer.
