Difference 2.7 sporto/non-sporto cases
Another topic, not related to the 2.0 -> 2.7 topic:
What are the differences between sportomatic/ normal non- sporto referring 2,7 L engine cases (they carry different numbers) I may be in the situation to have to change the case on a 2,7 sportomatic. Thanks, Robert |

The cases are the same.
The vacuum system on the CIS is different to run the vacuum pod on the transmission. The stamped numbers are controlled by the build sheet which includes the injection that is installed, the wire harness that the sheet calls for, the exhaust, etc. The main thing is, the short blocks are the same and the long block sporto has an oil pump on the left cam for the trans Bruce |

Ok, however for the sake of originality i would be in search of a '76 sporto case. Anyone got something?
Thanks, Robert |

Once the exact serial number no longer matches I wouldn't worry too much about it. By the time they go to 915 based Sportos with the 2.7 they were getting pretty rare. You will probably pay more for the 'correct' type number case than you could ever hope to recover on resale of the car.
