cyl #3 not working
I am baffled by this one. Please help.
1975 engine with compression numbers of between 155 and 160 all the way around. There is good fuel delivery and spark to cylinder #3, but it refuses to fire. All other cylinders are working fine. My "is it working" test is to pull the plug wire off the plug and listen for a change in engine rpm/performance. Here is what I have done to try and fix this. Whenever I pull the plug after each of these changes, the plug is always wet with fuel. - New plug ... no change. - New plug wire ... no change. - New injector ... no change. - New points ... no change. - New cap, rotor, and coil ... no change. - Installed known working CD box ... no change. - Spray pattern and volume from injector #1, #2, and #3 are all the same. - Put #3 plug wire on #2 and ran temp wire to #3 ... no change. - Switched CIS feed line from #2 to #3 at injector ... no change. - Switched CIS feed line location at distribution head from #2 to #3 ... no change. - Compression test while running and not running on #2 and #3 give same numbers. - Put a timing light on #3 wire while running engine and get consistent light flickering. What am I missing? What have I not done that I should? It seems that #3 just does not want to fire. |
