Chain Tensioner Question
Today I was cleaning my chain tensioners for my 993. I noticed something odd and was wondering what it means.
I pumped up the tensioner with my fingers while it was submerged in cleaning solution. The right side tensioner seemed to build up resistance as I pumped. The left side tensioner did not build up resistance. What is the significance of this and how do you tell if a tensioner is bad? Picture below of my tensioner: ![]() |

Someone suggested I retry this test with oil.
The results are that neither one of the tensioners pumps up at all. Can someone confirm that this is what's supposed to happen or are they toast. Prior to this rebuild I had no noticeable noises at either chain box. Frustrated! |
