New pistons and cylinders 911 2.4 e

I have a 1972 911 2.4 e engine out and found the piston had a battle with a stuck valve and other one is unevenly worn in the cylinder. The car sat for 15 years and I am now in the process of rebuild. This is going to be a light driver with no extra hp add ons. It is a MFI motor.

So after talking to AA they said my 2.4 e has original compression of 8 to 1 and they sell only a 9 to 1 set for 899. He said I would have to increase the valve cuts in the pistons probably.

he recommends je pistons but said it would take a month to forge and it would be 1600 vs the 899.

anyone here have experience with this? I am not sure what to do...

thanks
Niko

I would say, "slow down", do a bunch more computer box research, see what these Pelican guys say.

Call me and I'll give you the scoop on AA and what makes them work.
I may have some other options as well.

I would go JE. Matched piston/cylinder kits in stock on that popular auction website... for under $1400 with a best offer option. Done deal in my book and no worry about valve clearance games.

84 mm to 86mm makes a 2.5 and the cylinders just need boring, no coating.

The 84mm Mahles will not bore to 86mm safely. The liner gets too thin and I've even seen the liner bored completely through. 85mm is a viable option.

If your cylinders are worn, installing a new set of pistons is a marginal repair.

We have sets of reconditioned Mahle 2.4S pistons and cylinders (perfect for this application) for just slightly more than the cost of new JE and the labor to bore and hone your old cylinders.

You need to take Henry's offer. That is a great price for a S system.

Thumbs up Thanks for the help

Well I called up Henry and I am so glad I did. What a valuable resource and great guy!! Not only did he have what I needed but he had some very valuable information on my options for my rebuild project. He saved me a lot of worries about what to choose. He was happy to answer my other questions and gave me some great ideas as far a what to check and replace so that when I reassemble my engine I won't have to take it apart for things I would have just overlooked. If your reading this and your looking for pistons and cylinder options and or parts give this guy a call.
