I would not risk a motor on these rods. Hell, proper fasteners cost more than these rods.

worth a test i think

out there there is lots of engines running this rods - only high output machines that need strong rods. if you look at the vw scene they use them as standard. i bought a set for my turbo. had three factory sets on the shelf. reworked, weighted and ready to go. i decided to use the chinese crap - no problem for thousands of miles.

there is the legend this is the same material pauter and carrilio use. same factory delivers the raw rod. then they are machined. in the states for pauter and carillio - for ping and pong in china.

they are succesfull as you can see in prices. in the beginning they were 399 to 550 a set - now they are between 700 and 1200 $ a set over here.

lots of hight output 996 turbos use these parts over here. if they fail it is usually not the „china crap“ ....

You probably have a financial interest.....

You want to use them? Go right ahead. I wouldn’t touch them with a 10 meter pole. Worth’s test? No way....

I have a T4 914 engine in my '67 VW bug, 78mm X 102mm nickies/JE, EFI about 180hp so close to double stock HP. I have about 25K miles on this engine.
Uses common CB Performance made in china rods, less than $300 a set/4. A lot of VW aircooled have run these without issue for at least 30 years.

I have another big T4 engine on the bench, 2.3L, 80mmX 96mm and it has SCAT made in china rods. Scat uses the same rod cores in V8 engines.
I use a lot of Carrillo rods in my 996 builds, other than the label the rods look the same as the CB or SCAT H beam rod.

These 911 engines just aren't making massive power, certainly well under even what even the Chinese forged rods are capable of handling. Hot rod Ford/Chebby, turbo Nissan/Toyota/Honda motors are pumping FAR more power per cylinder than some hot rod 911 motor yet are using catalog Scat or 'name your manufacturer' Chinese rods ordered from Jegs, pumping 700bhp. As I stated earlier, I have two vintage racing clients running the el cheapo Chinese rods, zero failure to date. Some sizing issues were experienced with a couple, so as with anything, measure and check.

When building a $45,000 engine, the cost of the Chinese rods versus Carrillo rods is nothing.

I am buying American made any time I can and avoiding Chinese made any time I can...
