SC engine... 40 Webers and E cams

Hi ... I have a 1980 911 SC Euro engine...188 hp. It has two bent valves and it need an "rebuilt". I like to change to 40 mm Weber's, and i have some E cams lying on the shelf. Can i use them....or will this just be wrong ?? Is it better to go for the stock SC cams when using Weber's ?? B.A Norway.

				E cams etc.

If they are really E cams from a 2.0 or 2.2 they won't fit on anything bigger than a 2.7. also if you still have cis pistons they will probably interfere with real E cams. If you want to spent the coin to get pistons with sufficient clearance for higher lift cams, ie JEs etc. and you put webbers, E cam exhaust etc. you will have a fine engine but it will suck 25% or so more fuel. best Henry

A 1980 Euro SC with 40mm weber's and early exhaust should give at least 230HP. You will need to recurve the distributor or use a 78-79 distributor. You should use 30 degrees of advance at 5000 RPM. If you "blue print" the engine so you get an actual 9.8 compression ratio you can get a little more. 46mm carbs will get you about 5-10 more. You will need to rev to 7000 RPM to get the full HP numbers. Set the cams at .9mm for max power. -Andy
