The sometime knock

I have a question, I saw a post about a slight knock, I recently purchased a 930 turbo, 1987, Mint car, all orig, 55K miles, at idle it has a faint knock, anything over idle. No noise at all, oil pressure goes up at rev, like it should, and no knock, pressure about 30lbs, at idle, only really does it once in a while, Today it did it, I know what a rod sounds like, It kinda sounds like it, But mechanic thought motor sounded good, wasn't doing it that day, Does the fan make that knock noise at idle
on alternator. could it be something else , when it does it , doesn't matter, hot or cold, doesn't matter when it doesn't do it hot or cold, only when I am alone does it do it. Oil is new and full, Car is a 9 on a 1 to 10 , and very well maintained, never run hard, or abused,

Could it be a wrist pin,

Could it be a wrist pin,
It is possible that you just have an issue with valve adjustment.
I would suggest starting your own thread either on this forum or on the Tech forum and you will probably get more hits.
It is a tradition that you post a photo of your new ride in your first few posts, so try doing an intro thread on the tech forum with a photo and your question and I am sure you will have positive results.
Welcome to the forum!

As Bill mentioned, a pic of the car would help

Get a stethoscope (less than $10) and listen to the engine when it does make the noise and when it does not. Would be easy to isolated to the fan, distributor, specific cylinders or valves.

Mechanic's Stethoscope $5 @ H.F.
