Hi Caldonian,
Thank you for your interest and kind remarks. I have an agreement with our host, Pelican Parts, that this tool is being offered solely through their website. Here is a link: Porsche 911 & Carrera Cam Towers & Timing Chains - Page 3 |
Thanks for the prompt reply.
Since buying my 911 I have bought all my parts from PP but due to the postage costs its only really viable when I order quite a few parts. The postage cost for the lash tool alone came back at $50! Hence i was enquiring if you dealt directly with the public. I'll try e-mailing the PP sales team to see if they can have a look at the postage costs as they are probably system generated. Thanks and good luck with the lash tool. |
Added this to my list of must have tools. Thanks for taking the time to design this!

That sounds like a great product.
My question is I don't understand the purpose of the "dowel" adjacent to the business end of the tool? Is it to help balance the tool by extending it out against the rocker arm? |
Mark,
That's correct - the adjustable tool post supplies additional support plus keeps the main frame of the tool from rotating. |

$50USD for such a small item, crazy. |
Do you know why I have been waiting for a couple of weeks for this fine product? I was told that it wouldn't qualify for free shipping with the rest of my order as it was being shipped from another source. Is that you? Are you back logged? I don't mind waiting, just curious...

gsjohnson,
Thank you for your interest and kind remarks. Yes, the tool is backordered and I'm working to get this resolved ASAP. I originally had 25 tools made as a pilot production run - 4 out of this batch were not alloted for sale. After putting these up on Pelican Parts, I sold the remaining 21 in three weeks! I never expected this kind of response on a new product and am taking steps such that this never happens again. I appreciate your patience and understanding. |
Do you have an ET for when they will be ready to ship?
|
This tool is a must did my valves in 20 min
|
Hoping to have parts finished and ready to assemble by the week of March 17, at which time all backorders should begin to be filled.
|
Having the usual first time doing a valve adjustment concerns. This tool looks like it might be just the ticket. How hard is it to use with the engine in place? I've got a 3.2 with aftermarket exhaust.
My wife wants to know what I want for my BD, so I'm leaning towards this. |
Redstack,
I find that it's much easier using this tool to get the lash clearance set properly, especially when the engine is in the car. Now that could be interpreted as a biased opinion, so I let a friend use the first prototype tool and he agreed - very easy and much faster than feeler gauges, especially when setting lash on the intake valves. As you're probably aware, the intake side of the engine is somewhat confined. I think this would be a wonderful Birthday Present! |
Group of us down under has just ordered 6 of the tools.
Thank you Dave and Kyle for working with us, I'm almost looking forward to checking my valve clearances:) |
used mine today...
Very nice!
Was able to get consistant results right away. Only working on #1 and #4 right now... but it works well and quick, with repeatable results. bravo I hope I can get as good results when it's in the car surrounded by CIS stuff. Do you use a mirror to see the dial when you adjust #6? . |
bryant4,
Thanks very much for your feedback - glad you like it. I've never found it necessary to use a mirror, even on cylinder 6 intake valve. The beveled edge on the adjustment knob allows viewing at an angle, so you should be able to see the marks. |
We're back up to speed again - all backorders have been filled and I have tools in stock. A sincere Thank You to all that have purchased this tool and have been patient during the delay in shipment.
|
Yes, I got mine today. Thanks
|
Was just doing a set of valves and thinking - wouldn't be nice to have a tool that...just ordered one. Do a nice little custom offset wrench and I'll take one of those too. And sign me up for version 2 with the detent so I can do 'em with eyes closed. Nice work, love good tools, looking forward to it.
