Head Stud Replacement?

Hello guys, I'm doing a complete engine rebuilt, the engine has 69000 miles no factory broken studs, should i replace them with inserts or should I leave them as they are, any other machine work needed for the case?
Is a 1975 US Carrera engine
Your help is appreciated,
Thanks!

Also if the studs must be replaced what type of studs would you recommend for this case,
Thanks

There wont be factory broken studs because theyre steel.
The problem is the magnesium case and the inability to torque to spec with out pulling the case threads and not being able to torque.
The machine work is removing the existing studs, drilling and tap 12 mm holes and inserting case savers (time serts) then installing factory dilivar studs of the latest style or steel as you take a position on aftermarket studs.

Timeserts will eventually fail (ask me how I know!), but the Casesavers seem to be the best option we have unless someone starts reproducing the 2.7 cases in aluminum.

I used Henry Schmidt's Supertec head studs when we rebuilt my 2.7. Plenty threads on what's the best head stud to use (Supertec, ARP, factory steel, etc.). I guess in twenty years we'll know what the best choice was. I truly think that Porsche never figured these cars would have the lifespans that they have had!

Hello Jack, can I ask you if you did any other machine work to your case or just the casesavers? Thanks!

I actually sent the entire long block to Henry @ Supertec as I didn't want to make any mistakes. He cleaned and miked everything, put in the Casesavers, replaced the valves, etc., and reassembled with his Supertec head studs. Once we bolted everything back together, the 2.7 made 199.56 rear wheel horsepower with it's RS P/C, S cams, Clewitt ignition! and Weber carbs.

Not cheap, but wonderful engine!
