Backup light switch pin (homemade)

OK... as many of you know, the backup light switch pin is no longer available from Pelican. When I performed my transmission rebuild a few years ago, I lost my pin and followed the directions provided in the link below.

This method worked like a charm until a few weeks ago when my backup switch kept shorting out my turn signal fuse. Anybody else have this issue?

Perhaps I got the pin too long??? I believe I made it the extra 7mm as described.

Just curious if anybody found a solution.

Thanks in advance.

Just a quick update on my backup light switch. The old one is shown below. You can see the damage to the switch. The button surface (inside hole) is actually worn into a groove.

My hunch is the groove became too deep and the pin wouldn't actually push the button far enough to reach the contacts or the switch was damaged by a pin that was too long. New switch works great. I used an extra washer to give it a little extra space.
