Mahle 911 Euro Carrera 95mm, 10.3:1 Postons
Can someone please give me some specifics as to how the Mahle 95mm, 10.3:1 pistons for the '84-89 R.o.W 911 Carrera differ from the Mahle 95mm, 9.8:1 pistons for the '81-'83 R.o.W. 911SC? I'm guessing the configurations and volumes of the domes may differ, as one is for Motronic and the other is for CIS, but I would like to know the facts. Pictures would also be great, if you can refer me to a reliable site that would have correct photos, or if you possibly have some pix that you could email to me. Thanks for your help.

Both the euro and the US pistons have the same casting numbers but the euro is a few MM higher on the high part of the dome.
You need them beside each other to know the difference. They are all for Motronic but can be used with CIS. Bruce |

The SC pistons have a different size wrist pin (22mm vs 23mm). I think the pin is in a slightly different location as well. I suspect the piston tops are very similar since the same shape would give a higher compression ratio in the longer stroke engine.

Here are a couple of pics showing the difference in dome shape between the 9.8 CR SC piston and the 3.2 10.3 CR piston.
