3.6 to 3.8L

Hi,
anyone done this and what is the best way to do it?

what parts do i need to change if i am using a 964 3.6L c2 engine.

I am intending to get it up to 3.8L 993 pistons.

Anyone uses CP Pistons or mahle.

Can we just buy it from this 2 manufacturers direct and do it with our local mechanic.

Must i upgrade my cams for the car?

can the ecu handle this with a dyne tune or must i use a motec or other standalone ecu

Hi,

The best way to do this is by using the thick-walled, Mahle 102mm P/C's. The case spigots will need to be machined for these.

You can use stock or SS cams. The ECU will need a different chip, for certain.

Agree with Steve - - -
For a 1992 964 3.6L to 3.8L race engine
- We used EBS Racing in Nevada for JE pistons/cylinder refurb
- We used WebCams for 20/21 cam rebuild
- And, we used Steve Wong for custom dyno chip

IMHO, if your 3.6L does not need a rebuild I would not bother with the 3.8L upgrade
it can be very expensive

Regards,
