What have you done for holding the plug wires

What's the cleanest way to manage the plug wires. I'm after a clean look. Is there an aftermarket kit for holding them neatly in place?

Plug wire organizers........

The ACCELL company makes a kit that comes with an assortment of clip on wire organizers. Each clip will hold 2 wires. The wires simply press into place on the plastic holders. They work well and are not expensive. Look in your local auto parts store or hot rod shop.

I did something similar for my 3.2SS.

^^ Thats what I want - where can I get something like that?

I need to find one of the metal plates that clamp the wires down too. I picked up my engine in a partly disassemble state and didn't get one of those.

The wire separators I used are Taylor#895-42700. The kit is sold by most speed shops and online high performance parts outlets. The kit is intended for a V8 engine.

Electromotive XDi Plug Wire Organization

Here's a link to what I did for plug wire organization: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-engine-rebuilding-forum/785959-gordos-3-2l-engine-rebuild-ready-reassemble-4.html

I like these connectors - simple, rugged and hold things in place. Sold for 6 cyl engines and relatively universal (by plug wire size).

They also came with mounting brackets that I didn't use (to mount wires upright on an attachment point on the engine).

Best of luck.

When you want to attach these wire separators to something (in my case, the chassis - I have the coil packs chassis mounted, and pull the plugs out when R&Ring the engine, but you could make up things to bolt to parts of the engine also), use a separator with one more groove than your wires. So use a 4 wire separator for three wires, etc.

Then weld (or otherwise fix) a stub of steel tubing of suitable diameter as a fixing point. Clamp the separator to the tube. Works great.

Here's a really low buck method I once saw: wrap the wires (let us say three of them) loosely with a tie wrap. At each space between two wires wrap a short tie wrap around the crosswise tie wraps. Tighten to taste. Now you have your wires bundled flat, but separated by the width of a tie wrap.

Sorry, no picture of this. Good to keep in mind, though.

I think available from our host and from other sources if not.
