OEM Rod Bolt Torque setting - 1983 930
Good morning..
Not getting any hits with the 930 side... I want to start putting my crank back together and I am getting mixed information Torque setting for OEM rod bolts I think I have heard 1st stage is 11lbs (15nm) and second stage I assume is to continue another 90 degrees after.. Correct?? now I have seen 37-41lbs and 50-55nm listed somewhere else Someone have the answer...Thanks

Had tech tell me the 90 degree torque was listed in spec book for turbos. He advised 39 ft lbs. on non turbos.

Yes. Don't have book in front of me but 1st torque at 15nm. Bolts lubed with oil. Some use loctite 271 as Wayne recommends. Big debate on that in several threads.

No loctite!!!
That affects torque settings and besides, will not add any more security.

Not at home yet. But I think first torque was 14.7 ft lbs., 20nm. Not sure that 5 nm is going to make?

I found a 930 manual that confirmed that it is 1st stage is 11lbs (15nm) and 90 degree turn for second stage...

Obviously not many have noticed, that Porsche changed torque with 964 also valid for older 911 as the previous bolts aren't available since many years. So if you are not using the first 30 year old ones, you may have the 964 ones. Check according following bulletin:

^^^^^ What Roland said. Or get ARP bolts for about the same money as stock....
 Do not use Loctite....
