What Pistons and Cylinders should I get for my /6
I am in the process of replacing the heads on my /6. Obviously, there is a million options that I can do. I just want to have fun with my car. I'm not planning on winning any races (or competing in). My questions:
1. is there anything on my setup that is horribly wrong (I understand it may not be a perfect setup) 2. are the intake and exhaust ports reasonably sized for my setup or should I have my heads ported? Here is my setup- 2.2e case 2.2e camshafts 2.2e heads (46mm intake valves, 40mm exhaust, 32mm intake ports, 32mm exhaust ports) 2.7 crankshaft 2.7 cylinders 2.7 pistons (pocketed for valve clearance) zenith carbs (34mm vents) I have zero interest in tearing apart the short block. I have the cam towers and heads off. Last edited by tornik550; 12-22-2014 at 02:12 PM.. |

2.7 upgrade
looking at what you list I think you should get 75 or later heads for 35/35 in/ex. pmos or weber carbs. What are your pistons, cr? I have 9.5 je, e cam 35/35, ssi etc and am very pleased. might have gone with a solex cam but had an e handy. 75 and later heads are pretty easy to find a cheap, I wouldn't use my 32s cause I wanted more top end. I think it was worth it. best

The car had 2.7l CIS pistons that have valve pockets cut into them. I do not know the compression ratio because the engine is new to me. Hard to calculate cc with the crazy pistons.
I already have a gorgeous set of 2.2 e pistons. Can I just have the ports opened up to 35/35? If so, who does that service? I plan on using the car simply for fun street driving. |

So I think I should redirect my original questions.
I would like to use these components that I already have. 2.2e heads, 2.7 crank, 2.2e cams. What Pistons and cylinders should I get? My case has been machines for 90mm cylinders. |

You need the P&Cs for the holes in the case. Heads are too small for the volume needed
Valves are all the same 2.2 to 2.7. Bruce |

Are you sure you have a 2.7 (70.4mm) crankshaft in your 2.2 case? Normally the 2.2 had a 66mm stroke crankshaft.

I just checked again and the piston travel is 70.4mm. I just wanted to make sure my previous measurements were correct.
