Oil modification

Purchased a new engine case and I am trying to determine if the oil mod was done on the case. No Pistons came with the case so I do not know if they have holes or are solid. My case does not match the picture in Wayne's book. Their is no plug in the bottom hole but the passage that requires a hole to be drilled is wide open. I do know which Pistons to use, solid or holes. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Depchief1

Oil modification

Here is what the mod looks like. And you use solid pistons with the mod, pp sells a nice kit with pistons, springs and cap.

What "new" case? All the cases after some point - 1975 or 6 maybe - had the modification from the start. If it is a 2.4 or earlier case, it didn't have this modification. A 2.7 depends on the year. I think all the 3.0 and later cases were cast and machined in the modified configuration.
