993 crank ,rods and pistons in a 964 .

As a repair for my 1990 964 transplant engine that spun a bearing I am thinking of using a good used crank ,rod and pistons from a varioram 993 that I know of.

I would just like to check before I proceed that this is just a straight swap requiring no alterations other than the need for a new pulley. Will compression and power output be as before .

Is there any problem installing the second had albeit good pistons into my good but used 964 heads with new 993 rings ? Thanks in anticipation

The only difference you'll encounter is a change to the front pulley.

Without checking compression specs and assuming they are the same, your output should be the same.

One Caveat: the 993 rods are different but the difference is unimportant if you maintain the same rods with crank and pistons.

Thanks Henry thats put my mind to rest , I did read somewhere the earlier 993 rods were narrower / lighter than the later ones was there ever a problem with these . Mine however would be from a Varioram model so would they be heavier but still lighter than my original 964 ones ? Will I notice any difference to engine character with this set up? cheers
