				930 CIS on 3.0L (SC)

Will a 930 CIS work on a 3.0 Head or do they have to be matted or rpelaced with 930 heads?

				Thanks!

I'm not certain what your question is.

If your asking, can you use 911 sc heads on a turbo, the answer is yes. in fact the small port SC heads are great on a turbo. All you need to do is a little porting, 37mm on each and you get a very nice combination. If your asking if you can use a 930 intake on an SC engine the answer is also yes buy why would you?

			HI Henry,

I was wondering if I could use a 930 CIS on an SC engine so I could turbo charge it. I have the urge to t/c my engine or buy a 3.3L again. Thanks again for helping me last summer to find those CIS parts to connect to my brake booster line. Jeremy

Yes. In fact if you put 3.3 Turbo 97 mm pistons and cylinders on a 3.0 crank it makes a very nice little 3.16 engine.

They spin like you wouldn't believe.

Henry, are SC rods/crank similar in configuration to 3.3 rods/crank? If so, what it is about the 3.16 that give it this 'rev' factor as opposed to as to the 3.0 with 95mm pistons?

Mine leaks oil from the heads and cylinders, when i get some more coin i am going to get Henry to seal it up for me. My engine started as a 79SC 3.0. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Video of how it spins! http://homepage.mac.com/davidchapman1/iMovieTheater27.html

Sorry to hear that Chap. Great vid. Are u going to put in a strong PP to cure that slippage problem u were having with the 901?

I taked to Kennedy and they are going to tweek things abit for me, they recommended a grippier clutch and tweek the pressure plate up from the stage 2 but not as much as a stage 3. I only notice the slipping in 5th it seems to hold well with the close ratio box in the other gears. I would like to put back a higher 5th for better cruising which would mean i need even a stronger hold with the clutch. Hopefully the Kennedy tweek will be enough. My other option is run less boost but thats not as fun....

The oil leak is due to my engine builder not knowing something that Henry and others on this board do. Also my engine has not been tuned for timing or fuel and is barely broke in, i think there is more on the table for sure even though i dont think i really need it. The car seems to run fine.

If you really want to build a killer turbo you might consider EFI. I have just what you need. This could easily support a 600+ hp engine.

Thanks Henry, I lalready went down the EFI route and although I was nearly there, I became frustrated worrying about the wiring and mapping of the EFI, so I scrapped it and that was when I called you to help source the stock CIS components again.

I am starting to get that "bug" again, but I thought going the 930 CIS route rather than the EFI route would be much simpler, especially for a novice like myself.

I realize that I'm re-kindling a very old thread but does anyone know where I can get information on the "lengthened" rods that are spoken of below? I have a 82 SC 3.0 with broken head studs and all the componets for the top end of a 3.3 turbo (CIS, intake, k27, exhaust, wg, etc... including 3.3 pistons and cylinders.

This will be my winter project so right now it is information gathering mode. I appreciate any input. Quote:

Talk to Henry, they rebore and offset the bushing in the rod end to do this, works great, my 3.1 engine screams.... i have my rev limiter set at 7000 i try and shift around 6000 but usually bounce off the rev limiter as the rpms rev faster than i can shift. I do not see any running out of breath over 6000. i have the big valve 79 SC heads and an 86 930 RUF euro fuel head intake and injectors.

I purchased from Renegade a kevlar clutch to use with the stock stage 2 pressure plate i had from Kennedy. i have great hold now no slipping at all. Oil was leaking past the rocker bushings as there were no RSR seals installed, looking into new bushings rockers, and locks with seals next time i have the engine out of the car.
