Rocker Shaft Fun
Played with iMovie today while putting together a 1970 2.2L mag motor that has been punched out to 2.7L with GE40 cams. Should be an interesting little power plant when back together.
Rocker shaft installation can be exciting! Haha...

I'd like to get my hands on some of those rocker locks... just for piece of mind.

Great video Jason, really nicely illustrated.
But.... ...those overalls are FAR too clean - was that a body double actually spannering? ![]() ![]() Chris did offer these to me for my build, and at the time I hadn't realised how completely over budget my project was going to end up, so I rain-checked [hindsight glasses=on] ....if I'd have known then what I know now, I'd have bought them without a moments thought. My rocker shaft bores are looking very nice, but for sure it's something I'll retro-fit next time I remove the cam covers for a look-see.

Just putzing around this morning checking the valve to piston
clearance, and I try out my TurboKraft rocker shaft locks. They seem to be really loose when snugged up hand tight, but once I torqued to specs, they are fine. Is this how these work? Any recommendations for thread lockers, or will the torque hold them in place?

A dab of blue Loctite thread locker is more than sufficient.
The loose feeling is exaggerated by these having tabs on each end, farther from the shaft's center point. Just make sure those tabs are not atop a casting seam.
