3.0 rebuild question
I have a 3 liter to rebuild. it has a bad crank. I want to know input on putting a 3.6 crank in it as a replacement. I have done a little research on this but am still unclear on some things. I am intending to replace the pistons as an opening statement. I have a set of rods from a 964 3.6. as I understand, the 964 crank and the 993 crank are a bit different as the 964 needs a dampener and the 993 crank does not. the rods are also slightly different in their width and use a different bearing. where I am unclear is: can you use a 964 rod and bearing on a 993 crank and avoid the use of the dampener? also, are there any other issues I am not aware of with putting a 3.6 crank into a 3.0 case?? thank you for the input.

Not sure if you ever got the answer to this but from what I've heard you cannot fit a 3.6 crank into a 3.0 case. I do know you can put a 3.2 crank in a 3.0 case.
