If the JB Weld doesn't work you'll have a heck of a time getting it out of the seam. I'd try RTV before I went that route but your call. I've never heard of RTV being attacked by oil, it's intended use is to replace gaskets.

I agree with you. In the past I've successfully used RTV to seal leaks around the rocker shafts, much to the chagrin of some engine builders.
Having said that, I could not get as much as a sewing thread in the seam so probably not much luck getting JB in there either. I'm now waitingfor the JB to cure and will fill oil and restart tomorrow. Fingers and toes crossed.
