Gasket Stuck On Case

How do you remove the old paper gasket when it is stuck on the case. It's the gasket for the chain housing where it meets the case. I had the case hot tanked but that didn't get it off. Yesterday I was trying brake cleaner and very carefully removing with a razor blade. I got some off but I don't want to risk scratching the case.

Usually around the stud, I would pull the stud if I needed to get the gasket off.
When installing the gasket, I put 574 on the bottom 2 inches where it might be immersed in oil
Keeping gasket removal problems to a minimum in the future.

A single-edge razor blade and a lot of patience.

3m makes an adhesive remover you can get at a hardware store. I apply that, let sit 10-15 minutes and turn razor blade. Makes a huge difference in effort.

And just 574 with no gasket when you reseal it.
