Anybody know a source of the inserts with set screws for the early shift knobs to slip onto and to secure to 901-911-915 shifters? And are they glued in?

I think you mean a crush ring sleeve, but they don't have a set screw, only the aftermarket knobs have a set screw IIRC.
4th item down, 914 trans is a 901.

Not the crush sleeve. But definitely the aftermarket insert. For example, an aftermarket AMCO used an insert and some of those used crush sleeves and some used set screws. There are some manufacturers that are producing balsa shiftknobs...maybe I should search there...:confused:
