replacing numbers match engine
I've got a 73 911S that Ollies is repairing the original case for me. I then want to take the internals from the engine in the car (believed to be proper/original internals) and move to the original case. The current engine is fresh. Do I still need to replace the rod and main bearings, or is it OK to transfer them to the newly machined case provided I keep their same positioning?

There has been a lot of discussion about Glycol bearings and there are a number of threads here where builders have reinstalled their original bearings rather than risk getting a bad "new" set from Glycol. So, can they be reused? If in spec, yes.
Then, OCD in me would say, new (along with a good dry film coating) has to be better. They are relatively cheap...except maybe the nose bearing but those see less wear and are reused regularly. So, yes or no? Take your pick. ![]()

FWIW,.....
We do not use any aftermarket Glyco rod bearings, period. Glyco main bearings to date, have been OK. I do not reuse any main or rod bearings unless they are perfect and IMHO, its "pennywise and pound foolish" to do so. These are cheap parts.
