Advice needed on how to remove and replace Weber IDA 3C galley plugs
I am rebuilding my Weber IDA 3C's. I need to remove the lead (?) galley plugs so I can completely clean the gallies.
Does anyone have any advice on how to remove the plugs? Also any advice on replacing them would be much appreciated. |

Drill them. Start small and then use correspondingly larger bits to remove all the lead without touching the carburetor body.
I've used small lead fishing weights and modified them to suit, but you may be able to find small lead balls at McMaster-Carr.

Shot Gun Cartridge manufacturers - I bought a jar weighing about 2 lbs 5 years ago and will never run out.
You will need a small punch to tap them down and we made one which puts the same 'witness' in the pug as the original. |

Chris,
Most shot shells are now steel in this country.

We still use lead here in the UK and I can't imagine using steel shot in the barrel of my old Purdey - the very idea is scary.

Plus, it will really devalue them.

Henry Schmidt taps the galleries and fits a 'grub' screw with a Loctite sealant.
