906/RSR Cams

We have just started to machine the billets to have some 906 and RSR Sprint Profile Centre Lube cams ground and I am struggling to find the basic information to grind the cams.

The information that seems to be available seems confused and isn't very consistent.

The cost of buying and measuring genuine cams is prohibitive so any 'real' information would be helpful.

I have tabulated the data I have found and it is difficult to decide which is correct.

The 906 data should be easy BUT if you look in the spec book (highlighted in Red) it looks as if the timing may be 284/270 but it doesn't say is this is 'seat angle' or at 1mm.

The numbers in the red box look familiar. I have always been confused by the fact that I can't add those timing specs + 180 degrees and come up with the stated duration specs on the factory racing cam grinds. The only thing I can think of is that the ramp profile at very low lift (< .010") may vary widely from one grinder to the next, hence the apparent discrepancy (and the differences you've found in your compilation)? But I don't have any facts to back that up.

Bill, Thank you I appreciate the information - it is another variation

I think I have run a set of early 906 cams to ground so I can make measurements but not 100% sure yet.

I have also found some software to produce drawings for Berco Cam master so we are making slow progress.
