Cam Recommendation for 3.2SS

Hey all,
I have used the search function and looked at lots of cam profiles but wanted to post this up to see what you all thought.

Motor
3.0 with 98mm Nickies 9.5 JE pistons
Stock crank, rods, oil pump
Heads intake opened to 38mm
46 PMO's
123 USB Dizzy
SSI headers BB Single out muffler but may change to M&K

Car is going to be street driven but not a DD

We would like a cam that has good mid-range but can still put the power down at the upper end.

options I have been considering.
964 (Can regrind current)
These would require new billets
GE-40
Sprio at Redline own grind similar to the 964

Thanks in advance

GE40, Solex, Mod-S would all be decent choices.

Make sure your exhaust can support which one you choose.

timely post, I've got an almost identical engine I'm going to be using soon, it currently has CIS and 964 cams but I'm looking at changing to 46mm Webers and new cams that are optimized for the carbs

I have almost the exact same engine (10.5:1 compression). I'm using DC80's and they scream.

I made 204 WTQ from 3500-5000 and 192 WHP at 6500 on a Mustang Dyno with the same engine on 4R CIS with 964 camshafts. Excellent power band for a street car.

On the one hand you have great breathing on your intake side, but are limited on your exhaust side, IMO.

I guess you need to decide at what RPM range you want the motor to work best in.

In my case my motor is an 3,0 SC with JE 9.5s, large port heads, and for now 40mm Webers. I want mid range torque so I chose John Dougherty's GT-2 102 cams. According to John they will still pull to past 7,000 rpm, but peak around 6,000.

You might want to contact John and discuss your needs. Camgrinder on this forum. Or Dougherty Race cams, Dougherty Racing Cams

all great recommendations.
I am taking them all as options at this point. I have spoken with Spiro (Redline Racing Cams) but not John yet.
I want this motor to work best in the mid-range with the ability to get in the upper end and still make decent power but the mid is where we will drive it most

decided on a set of GT-2 102's from John.
Also had the stock ones reground by Spiro to 964 spec may try them may not.

still debating on what to do with the exhaust.
the SSI's I got are new and would prefer to use them but also want heat.
Muffler needs to be single out because we already painted the bumper and it only has the single cutout :)
