SC upper engine cooling tins on a 2.7?
Hi,
Wayne gives a quick mention of extra tins that were fitted on later cars and that it would be benifical to earlier cars as well. Good idea, doesn’t do much or bad idea? I picked them up pretty cheaply, so not a big deal either way. ![]()

My belief (purely my opinion) is that they were to keep the cylinder studs warmer, there fore slightly longer and less likely to pull cyl. stud threads, and when I used those on a 2.7 mag case in the eighties that is exactly what they did, prevented previous stud pulling. Not exactly a case study (pun intended) but at least one data point!

I just did it on my 2.7 1975. The tins needs a little cutting, also the others tins, you have 6 sponges not 4.
For the cooling it is an improvement, cooler heads plus warmer cylinder studs! Body paint almost ready, so first test will be in September. |

Thanks guys, I’ll put them on and see how it goes- hopefully the motor doesn’t run so cold that the cylinders ice up!
