PORSCHE 911 Carrera 1985 Cylinders

hi Boys..
I have a Q...has anybody done this to theirs cylinders ? I have an option from one machine shop in Germany to cut a groove into a cylinders to use sealing o ring alu. made.Like it was in early 911`s.The alu.ring i was told is self made by this company.
It is for 911 1985 Carrera with 80 000 miles.
I do not know anything about this update so, if anyone would have an idea or done this i would appreciate any hints.?
Do it or not?To be or not to be?
thanx

Ivan

It depends on use, are you racing it or mostly street?

You really do not need those rings for a naturally aspirated 3.2. just make sure you get the best head studs and properly torque them:

ARPs or Henry Schimdt's heads studs are pretty good.

A proper machine shop wil place a slight angle to the re-cut heads to insure a proper fit and mating of the surfaces so choose your machine shop very carefully and ask them how and what they do to cut the heads. They should also stamp how much they cut for future reference.
