90 964 Reseal question

Howdy all,
Well, my 90 964 has started leaking oil at the base of the cylinders. I addressed some former leaks, eg timing chain covers, valve covers, etc. I'm not the best at turning a wrench, so I'm putting my car in more capable hands. The oil leaks leave 50 cent size drops from several places on the driver's side. It also appears that oil is blowing back. I know this after power washing the underside of the engine.

I've got three quotes for the job which ranged from $4900 to $5600. I will say the more expensive quote goes on to replace a lot more than just doing the cylinders, eg RMS etc. While talking to these 3 mechanics, each on of them called it a reseal. However, not all of them covered the same items to be resealed.

My questions is, "How far off am I from just having a top end job done vs. a "reseal"? I'm wondering, because if the ceramic pots need replacing, or valves, or XXX needs replacing, what I'm I looking at in terms of cost vs the above quotes?

I'm posting a couple of pics which show the cylinder leaks.

TIA,
HB

Why would you have someone pull the heads and not do a valve job...
You know the auto stores have aluminum flat pans for dripping oil, less than $20.
Like my brother says " 911, if there is oil in them, there is oil on them"

"Ceramic pot". Is that the ceramic coating on the exhaust port?

Having done this myself recently, it IS doable if you are methodical, well planned, thoughtful etc..
It's a bit difficult to gauge which is the best quote without knowing exactly what they are replacing, but I think once you have the engine out, you will have to replace every single gasket and o ring regardless.
Then you have the question of whether it has had the head sealing ring modification (and whether you want to get it done, or simply have the heads machined true again)...

While you could just pull the heads and cylinders off, once they see the valves and condition of sealing surfaces I am sure they will hit you up for more work, and it's probably warranted too.

If you have done time chain covers and valve cover seals and other bits and pieces, you aren't really that far from pulling the motor down anyway....
Sorry, my post isn't really that helpful.

Cheaper isn't how I'd shop this job personally. You should expect to find some surprises once opened up that will cost more. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst is my advice so you're not surprised by a typical snowball. Also find someone who stands behind their work.

Thanks for the comments so far gents. I've got a budget that is within the quotes above. I'm guessing that to do the valves I'm looking at another $1000.00? I vaguely remember the cost of valves and machine work while having my 70 911T rebuilt years ago. The total rebuild cost me nearly $11k 8 years ago. Of course, times change as do the price of doing business. Also, I know that Porsche valves are 3-4x the cost of TRW valves. Anyone have experience using anything other than Porsche brand valves, seats, etc?

I'm trying to go into this with an open mind, but I just don't want my wife to cash in on my life insurance due to a heart attack .
