Cylinder Base Gasket....Tight?
Hi Pelicans,
A little advice please. I've just put the piston and cylinder into the case to do the first deck height check on cylinder #1. I have the 0.25mm shims from the Gasket kit but they are tight against the new head studs that I have from Supertec. (Which are very nice btw) The shank of these studs do not have a relief, like the originals. This means that the cylinder doesn't sit completely flat against the gasket/case. I haven't bolted it down to compress the Gasket any further because I wanted to ask for opinions on here first. I'm thinking about removing a little more material from the relief radii so that they will clear the studs. Any one had this before? If so what did you use to create some more clearance? I think I will have to buy some thicker gaskets anyway, so I am happy to experiment with this set. Here's a photo. You can see where the Gasket is being 'swaged' around the 4 Stud holes. Nothing really serious at the moment and as always any feedback is very much appreciated. Cheers, Jason

Base gaskets.........
Jesse,
The copper base gasket looks different from the Porsche base gaskets I've been using. What is the kit brand name these base gaskets came from? Tony |

Looks smaller because it's not a 3.0/3.2 gasket, looks more like a 2.2/2.4 base gasket.

Try not, Do or Do not

The gaskets fit tight because the studs are a larger diameter.
Lightly trimming the gaskets slightly will cure the issue.

Hi Gents,
Thanks for the feedback. They are the gaskets from the Victor Reinz kit. Definitely the correct ones for my 2.7. I will give them a trim to have a bit more Stud clearance. Cheers, Jason.
