loctite 574 time to cure

engine: 2001 996 3.4l

I used some Loctite 574 as a flange sealant (aluminum to aluminum) last Thursday. I was curious as to the excess being wet 24 hours later and read and heard this is expected behavior and the product between the metal services that are not exposed to air will cure in 24 hours.

Out of curiosity I applied a bead to 1/4 of my oil pan bottom (surfaces very clean) and bolted it on. 24 hours later I took it off and still wet between the metal surfaces.

So, my test worked about as well as Napolean Dynamite adding the crystals to his time machine.

Tried again last night for a longer test with the oil pan bottom.

I did have a thought. This product was in my garage unopened for six months and would have had several days in storage above the recommended storage temp settings of 46-82F. Not a chem E. Is my product simply tainted from my horrific storage habits? other thoughts?

Loctite 574 cures in the absence of oxygen. the excess will stay wet practically FOREVER. Don't sweat it; it's doing its job where you can't see it.

I think he is saying it's wet between the flanges. That should be dry. Right? My 574 clogged and dried in the tip after a week.
