Crankcase half sealant
I was wanting to buy the product to seal my aluminum crankcase halves on a 01 996.
the documentation recommends loctite si 5900, so I am inclined to go with that, but it seems I have read several posts from people preferring loctite 574. are either one a good choice? Is there a good reason to choose one over the other? |

also, they seem to be different products as the 5900 seems to be more of a gasket maker

I prefer 574 for aircooled builds because it doesn’t scab over before you set the other half case. As I recall, the water cooled don’t need matching halves so that would be the reason for a gasket maker.
