My final opinion I would cc the motor to see the actual compression....... I ordered a set of 10.5:1 pistons and they were only 8:1 when I checked them by volume... these numbers are way to low to be a simple problem in my opinion. Kevin is accurate in what he is saying I personally would love to have the car for about 3 days to see the actual problem...

Agian how about a faulty dyno guys? Anybody anybody bueller beuller?

How does the car feel when at full throttle past 4000? That engine should come "on the cam" about when it loses torque in the dyno plot and really take off. It shouldn't just feel strong like a stock 3.0, it should be an animal. Do a rolling start drag race from 30mph or something with another car of similar weight and compare based on power. |
Not sure if it's been asked, but what about the clutch? Slippage on mine seemed to plane out, but throwing out there.

Another test to see what your making is a simple 1/4 mile acceleration test.. I have several of my clients take there car to the drag strip and run them... Pauls 3.4 carb motor in an SC with stock gears ran an 11.94 in the 1/4 mile.. his reaction time was .4 seconds, the weight of the car with him is about 2575 lbs to 2600 lbs.. It is easy to calculate the power of the motor with known weight of the car and time through the quarter mile. I feel this method is plus or minus 3% accuracy. There are apps for your iPhone that are GPS based if you have a safe legal place to test the car and you don't want to go to the drag strip..

Its back at the shop to work on the throttle. They said they estimated the car is only getting about 80% throttle. Also doing a leak down test. Securing the wiring harness. Still wanting to re tune after all this is corrected and get somebody who is versed in AEM infinity.

Oh ok

Interesting. Are they saying the butterflies aren't opening completely? |
Pull muffler off and run it

For reference, my 20lbs of boost 3.4 with G50, I only managed a 12.02, and I'm a very skilled drag racer with dozens of passes on my 911. Yes, slicks and boost off the line would drop this number significantly, but I did have new 285 tires with ok traction for street tires. I'd love to see this combo. Something tells me it's a 12.94? If not, damn!! Kudos. Sorry to hijack. |
Tippy PM your time slip I'm curious.
Any updates on this car and a fix. Ps. Mr. KNight builds some crazy engines so I wouldn't put it past him that 3.4 is over 300 hp |
I agree, that 1/4mile time sounds amazing. I would like to know the details of the trans. 915? Gearing? Dog teeth?
So a 12 sec 1/4 would be about 120mph at the end. So the would mean three shifts. Edit, I am trying to QUOTE Tippy in #73 and respond. For some reason clicking on the QUOTE button does not bring up the QUOTE link. |
Search the 930 forum. The title has something to like "almost 11's on street tires"...
Quote doesn't work on my mobile... |
The guys are still going through the car and will be doing a dyno run this week. So will know more soon guys. I'm obviously not the most technical when it comes to engines and internal so I apologize for knowing some answers to your questions.

Good luck finding root cause!

Tippy, Paul Ivey is my client, his email is (motoracer_77573@yahoo.com) He has the 3.4 SC in Houston, He ran his SC at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown on a hot summer night about 6 months ago.. 11:94 and he has the time slip.. I listed his email above he is a good guy. Beautiful car maybe if you guys email him he will upload some photos and time slip.. It is a stock geared 915 with TQB diff. He is pretty good with the 915, better than I am... I would appreciate someone to reach out to him fo some photos.

Being a 915 car, I'd imagine it took at least 350 hp to achieve the time? I might reach out to him. Thank you. |
