Shift fork wear marks
Hi, hopefully someone can help me identify what would cause this wear mark on my shift fork. Car is a 73t with a 2.4 engine and a 911/01 transmition.
Thanks Mike ![]() |

I assume you're talking about the mark out near the bell housing? Looks like something let go on a previous clutch and got jammed between the PP cover and the fork. That similar mark on the bell looks to be almost in line with the mark on the fork?
Or what ever let go was still attached to the clutch and rubbing on the fork and bell housing as it went around. Last edited by boosted79; 04-28-2018 at 04:02 PM.. |

Clutch pedal depressed too far. Adjust your pedal stop on the floorboard.

Why would a '73 have that transmission?
At any rate, my shift fork looked like that. Why? Because when the ball joint pivot breaks off the release arm will rub on the PP. I'm sure this has happened in the past on your trans.

Hi guys sorry I missed the reply’s but no sorry boosted79 I don’t think anything let go I replaced the clutch, throw out bearing and fly wheel a thousand or so miles a go and that mark was not there and had no issues or noise in the mean time.
Trackrash the op must haves changed the transmission to a 911-01 for some reason in the past but the replacement works fine. Thanks guys I will take a look at the pedal adjustment. Thanks Mike |

My 75 has one as well as a 2.2e engine. People did strange things 20 years ago to keep them on the road.

Actually nice. |
