Wow, Mark. Very sorry to see that. I hope Web can fix that problem ASAP so you can get it back together and in the car to get back to enjoying it.
Best of luck, Michael |
Wow, this sucks. Sorry to hear it. I've heard that welded up cams can fail. I've been lucky with an older set I have in my track motor, but maybe this type of failure is what they mean ...

I'm going to pull them over the weekend and send them to web. I think it's only one but I'll get them to inspect both.
I also just bought the tool (valve grinder attachment) to surface my rocker pads, so I'll check and/or rebush and make sure the pads are square. |
Got my cams back from web. :)
They hard welded the bad lobe and light regrind to make sure all's perfect, polished the journals and coated them. Like new again. Now to find some time to get them installed and get the engine back in the 914.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1529632353.jpg |
Glad you got it sorted Mark,
Quick question about the black coating on the lobes, do you need to clean it off before install or does it wear off harmlessly? |
