Headstuds for 2.7 magnesium case

Hello

I’ve done a fair amount of reading in this topic but still come up
Confused.

Are the preferred cylinder head stud for a magnesium case 2.7
steel head studs.

So I was considering 993 steel studs but also see 993tt studs which
I think are dilivar studs.

I know there’s lots of options, just looking for a set up that works
And not fancy.

Case has case savers installed.

If your running steel head studs on your 2.7 please share. How are things holding up.

The steel head studs are fine, but have case savers installed. I wouldn't bother with 993 studs.

Reading up on what 'chris_seven' stated, I'd use Dilavar for mag cases.

He wrote a very detailed analysis on studs and how they react during heat cycling under my stud thread. Very insightful.

I have an aluminum case, so I would use the ARP or Supertech ones, which do not expand at the same rate as aluminum, but seems not to be an issue with the stud bosses of the case (thread pullout).

For now, I have 993TT studs, and Henry Wiener states these are great all around for every case (if I am not misconstruing his words). Only reason I considered ARP or Supertech is because I am boosted and needs a lot more clamping force.

Thank you for the replies. I’m honestly leaning towards steel studs.

I know I read about the expansion rate of the steel vs dilivar studs and dilivar being a better match
For magnesium and aluminum.

Just my experience with a 2.2 and 2.4, both being simple steel cylinder head studs and they were just fine. I’m going to keep things simple and see if I run into any problems.

A main priority is keeping the 2.7 as cool as possible, multiple oil cooler if needed. I’ll see if that helps .

I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong

It really has to do with the expansion of the aluminum 2.7 cylinders that steel couldn’t control causing the pulling of the magnesium of the case.
