Ignition

this is a dry run of my coils and ignitors on a platform that sits between the carbs ( or throttle bodies). Ill make a sub-harness for this so I can keep all the plug wires in place and just have to remove one weathertight plug when I drop the engine.

Ill do the same with the injector harness.

Tim,

I've been thinking of doing the same thing with my setup. What did you make the platform out of and how are you attaching it to the engine?

If you get a chance, some pics would be appreciated!

Chris

Chris,

I didnt make the coil platform. I just stumbled on it on Clewetts site ( its about $110). The platform is made to mount 2 HPV1 ir HPX ignitions. It mounts on the 4 breather studs.

I could have made something like this easily myself, but at some point you know it make more sense to just pay the piper.

I think I will brace this from the fan or intake manifold. Rich says it work fine on race cars. these coils etc seem heavy

Im picking up my 3.2 914 tomorrow and will be making a wiring harness for my 911 in the imediate future

Thanks Tim. Maybe I'll try and fab one this summer in my 'spare time'.

Probably won't be all fancy and anodized though... I think a good rusty license plate and some conduit.. Sort of the "retro jethro" look.
