You are correct, but that is not the issue here. The OP stated he bought an M-BUS adapter. A lot of the older head-units with CD changer controls use an M-BUS connecter for the changer, which can be used (via the aforementioned adapter) to connect a phone/mp3 player in place of the CD changer. However, it only works if everything "plays nice" together.
