I knew Dee Jones was passing through the PNW but on a tight schedule. Got a call last night and agreed to meet Dee and his friend Bill at the Coupeville ferry dock.
Left home early for a nice cool ride, 53F. with heavy rain. Stopped in Mt.Vernon when my aftermarket charging light started blinking red on the F650GS. Found a gas station on Dee's route after texting him and started pulling off plastic. Bike was charging well but the fuse was blown on my accessory power distributor box. I had installed an LED fuse which lights up when it is bad. The interesting part was the LED still supplies a small amount of power when the fuse blows which was enough to light my charge light and make it blink. New fuse and everything was good to go. Still don't know what caused it to blow.
Two hours after I stopped Dee and Bill arrived and we headed east toward the North Cascade Highway. We rode though the rain to Nehalem where I turned south to go back home. It rained for at least 75% of the ride but it is always good to see friends, even briefly, who live on the other coast.
