The problem with my steering wheel play was under the dash in the U joint area. There are 2 bolts with nuts that came loose. Once I tightend these there was no more play. If you move the steering wheel from side to side in just the area of the play you should be able to hear the joints under there if they are sloppy.
Easy fix!
