Send it to one of the speedometers shops that recondition the VDO instruments. In the US there are two on the west coast. They can calibrate it to any way you want it and change the color. Here they can change the clock to a quartz movement. The green on black is harder to read at night. So the factory went to white on black in 68 on.
If you are in Europe there should be several places in Germany. New (OEM) would be very hard to find in Europe and the US, used more likely.
