Does your car still have the original 2.7L CIS engine in it? A cam switch can certainly be an improvement, but there are other things that need to be done to make it worthwhile.
If your '74 still has it's original CIS injection you will not be happy with the change - the original cams were designed to work with that induction system.
To make it all worthwhile you'll also need to change the injection to carburetors or one of the aftermarket electronic systems and also change pistons. Even after those changes your heads will only be able to flow as much as their ports and valves allow.
There isn't much more horsepower available to the 2.7 unless you start spending a great deal of money, and then it makes more sense to change to a later model larger engine such as a 3.2.
