usually if it smokes on decel (high vacuum) it's bad valve stem seals. If it smokes under acceleration it's bad rings.
Valve stem seals aren't too hard to do. you shouldn't even have to pull the head. but you will have to remove the timing belt. Now's the time to replace it.
