Rhonda was simply at the right place at the right time, kinda like Royce Gracie, but unlike Rousey, he was actually a true champion. Rhonda capitalized on beating up fighters of a lesser caliber due to the infancy of the sport. She was marketed because of her looks and admittedly was better than the very narrow competition at that time. I really dont think were quite ready to see Amanda Nunes or a Cris Cyborg as a spokesperson for Nike but I may be wrong. Rousey was basically a solid white belt level fighter who beat up other white belts, then she finally stepped into the ring with a true Black Belt level fighter and got decimated twice. Humility goes a long way, which is why many people including myself dislike her, and she seems to be a very "mentally weak" person. I might even go as far as saying that she has actually reinforced some of the perceptions that exist in regards to how women react to mentally challenging situations. I don't think Ive ever seen a male fighter act the way she did after losing. Men just deal with it and are usually gracious or talk rematch smack but they dont run and hide. She is no role model for women.
