It depends if you are just doing a body lift or a suspension lift. Then there is a mild lift accomplished simply through the use of tires with much larger sidewalks.
Tacomas have A Arm suspension in the front
Longer travel shocks and other suspension parts to get the suspension more range and clearance. that plus simply clearance at the body for bigger tires
But some people do it just for the looks
